Mamata Banerjee's Govt. Completes 200 Days in Office

 The Trinamool Congress led government under the leadership of Ms. Mamata Banerjee completes 200-days in office. The journey during these 200-days was filled with various challenges. Maoist problem and tackling the financial burden remained among the major concern. There are many achievements too during these 200-days in office but one of the major achievements is undoubtedly her district tours which not only provided the locals a sense of security but at the same time proved as a orientation course for Ms. Banerjee who find these very helpful as she is in a better position in realizing and solving the problems of these districts which remained almost neglected over the past 34-years of Left Front regime in the state. 

.         1.   Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Bill 2011 is passed in the West Bengal Assembly.

2.            Chief Minister’s visits to districts and interacting with the district administrative heads and trying to understand the problems and finding solution to the issues.

3.            North 24 Parganas under the third leg of her district tour, inaugurates e-Collectorate at the office of District Magistrate in Barasat in North 24 Parganas.

4.            CM to address rally in Jhargram on October 14 to announce important decisions for the Jangalmahal area.

5.            CM reaches North Bengal, speaks to tea garden workers regarding their problems on her way to Darjeeling.

6.            CM reaches Jangalmahal, holds meeting with administrative heads at night. CM begins her scheduled district visit, travels to Durgapur.

7.            CM meets the administrative heads at Purulia Circuit house to discuss on various development issues to be taken in the district.

8.            CM meets the district officials at Dankuni in Hooghly.

9.            Ms. Mamata Banerjee won the by-election bettering the margin of the May election in spite of lower percentage of polling.

10.        The Chief Minister with an idea of promoting e-Governance interacts with district administrative heads over video conference. Bengal IT Expert Committee headed by Sam Pitroda, which includes Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, holds the first meeting to help West Bengal emerge as a technology investment destination.  

11.        Maa-Mati-Manush government clears an ordinance to clear 13 universities across Paschimbanga of political interference.

12.        Chief Minister convened a high-level meeting which comprised of the Union Minister of Commerce, Industry & Textiles at Writers. Announced various issues including setting up of a Handloom Institute and holding the Global Industry Summit in Kolkata. 

13.        Chief Minister with an idea to apprise the business fraternity across the world about the developments taking place in the state organized `Rising Bengal` seminar at International Trade Fair (IITF) on the occasion of West Bengal Day., on `West Bengal Day`. She requests industrialists to attend the `Rising Bengal Summit`in Kolkata from Jan 6 to 11 2012. 

14.        Chief Minister took an important stand over allowing the on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), in the state. She said that her top priority was to safe guard the interest of the farmers and retail shops and she will not support the UPA government on this issue unless the farmers have sufficient resources and the retailers find themselves secured.  

15.        Chief Minister raised her voice against the hike and announced a walk out of the UPA Government at the Centre. The Petroleum prices rolled back by rupees two per litre.

16.        Chief Minister inaugurates the 17th Kolkata Film festival with Guest of honours Shah Rukh Khan and Sharmila Tagore.  

 Major development just at the nick of the moment when the Trinamool Congress is all set to celebrate the completion of 200-days in office and submit the list  of achievements. The United Progressive Alliance Government (UPA) has decided to put the Foreign Direct Investment (FD) in retail on hold till Ms. Mamata Banerjee decides to reconsider her stand to oppose FDI in retail.
