October 29, 2011

Kolkata, October 29: `When I commit something I try to see that it is fulfilled`, was the opening comments of Paschimbanga Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee who expressed her happiness over the talks with the industrialists at the Writers’ Building. She said that the state will soon witness an `Industrial Revolution`.

Speaking on this occasion Ms. Banerjee expressed her happiness that she had fruitful talks with industrialists and that soon various projects will start rolling across the state which will boost the economy and also generate employment. `The negotiations are almost over with the company being designated to supply piped gas connection across greater Kolkata. This will be cheap and accessible and have almost been finalized `. Apart from that the TVS, a company well-known in bikes have agreed to set up a factory in Howrah where they will manufacture motorbikes. `I have negotiated and pleased to inform you all that the company which was to manufacture bikes earlier and could not do so has handed over the project to TVS which will manufacture motorbikes shortly`, added Ms. Banerjee.

Referring to the projects she had mentioned during her being Union Railways Minister `I am also monitoring those projects which had once planned but had to leave in the middle due to the election and subsequently the Chief Minister, however, I am in talks with the Union Railways Minister and have asked him to look into the projects and also inform me about the current status`, she said. She said the projects in Buj Buj and Siliguri are almost through and she is personally monitoring the projects designated by her at Kancrapara and Dankuni. `The state government is planning to become a partner in the Jeringham Wagon Factory project, the reason being close proximity to Nayachar where we are already coming up with a project. I feel if we can make this a reality then naturally the Haldia sector will start developing`, added the Chief Minister who informed that she has already received a confirmation on the status of the project.

Ms. Banerjee said that she was in talks with the Union Railways Minister over the development of the pending projects which she had planned including a metro rail coach factory in Paschimbanga. `Since we still have the land in Nandigram, and seeing the willingness of the Railways to come with a factory there, I am plaing to offer the land for the coach factory provided we return the lands to the farmers`, said Ms. Banerjee. She said that the Sail and Railways are in talks with her and have expressed their willingness to build the factory at Nandigram.

Expressing happiness over the latest developments, Ms. Banerjee informed that soon the state is going to have more investments since she received a call from the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry who will be visiting Kolkata on November 4 along with a high level business group and will explore avenues of investment in the state. `I am really hopeful as this will motivate many investors to come up and invest in Paschimbanga`, added Ms. Banerjee.
