Chief Minister at Belda in W. Midnapore, announces series of development packages

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee held a public meeting at Belda in West Midnapore on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister who was in West Midnapore on January 5^th to attend the closing ceremony of the `Vivek Chhatra Yuva O Vivek Utsav 2013` had promised that she will come back soon with more development packages and schemes. The Chief Minister who believes in commitments did keep her word and was on a two-day visit to West Midnapore within 10-days with more packages and schemes.

Speaking at the public meeting at Beldah, the  Chief Minister said that hospitals will be modernized and equipped with latest heath facilities. She also announced more hospitals in the district. Earlier during her visit to the region the Chief Minister had announced six-super specialty hospitals in the district. Sick Newborn Care Units (SNCU), and trauma centre will be constructed since the area lacks in good health care facelities.

Speaking on this occasion the Chief Minister announced several pro-farmer measures including expansion Kisan Mandis and cold storages at block level. She said that each and every block will have a Kisan Mandi. `I want you all to get the Crop Insurance done as you are not required to pay anything but the state government will pay the insurance, you will get the advantage as with this money you can buy crops again`. On this occasion the Chief Minister gave away `patta` to the homeless under the `Nijo Griho, Nijo Bhoomi` scheme and also `Gitanjali Housing Scheme`. `I will see that nobody stays homeless in the state and all should have a shelter above their head`, said the Chief Minister. She also presented Kisan Credit Card, Samajik Mukti Card and Artisan Cardin the area. She announced nearly 123-secondary schools in the district will be upgraded to higher secondary schools which will enable local students to continue their further studies without leaving their villages and homes for distance places. The school girls studying in nine, ten, eleven and twelve standards were presented bicycles.

She also laid foundation stones of four schools with hostel facilities. The Chief Minister laid stress on the education and said that there will be collages in Keshiari, Gopiballabhpur-2, Kharagpur-2, Chandrakona-2 and Beldah. `If anybody among you are willing to give three-acres of land for collage then please contact your District Magistrate. We have no objection in naming the college in the name of your family members if you desire. I am willing to construct more colleges in the region since it will help students to have better education but I don`t have land`, Said the Chief Minister. `There will be an Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in every block and a polytechnic. `After the polytechnic in your area you will not have to run to Kolkata for education`, she added.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Vidyasagar Industrial Park which will be built on 1,150 acres of land with an investment of 4,500 crore rupees. She said nearly 36,000 boys and girls will have employment once this project is completed. There will be another industrial park at Salbani on 4,472 acre of land. Nearly 35,000 crore rupees will be invested in the project which will open employment opportunity to one-lakh boys and girls. Apart from that she also announced a various of clusters which will come at Jambani and Salbani blocks soon.

Belda in Paschim Medinipur witnessed a huge Government programme today.

My connection with Medinipur and Jangal Mahal is deep-rooted. After the new Government came to power in May 2011, I have come here at least 9 times to boost the morale of the Jangal Mahal people. I am happy that they are doing very well. 

Last week, I came to Jangal Mahal on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda and met more than 25,000 players, including archers.

Lakhs of people attended today’s programme from far-flung villages. Power tillers, electric pump sets, agriculture implements, housing, Kisan Credit Card, land patta and a host of other benefits were distributed to thousands of beneficiaries. We have so far distributed about 40,000 bi-cycles to the girls students belonging to SC, ST and Minorities of classes IX – XII. More than 18 lakh students have been given scholarships under various schemes.

I shared with the people the efforts of our Government to revive the state from the legacy of 34 years of Left misrule, in spite of numerous constraints and negative criticism. We have set in motion ambitious programmes to usher peace, prosperity and development across all the districts of Bengal.

I always wish to bring smiles on the faces of the downtrodden, who are the pillars of Bengal, with our sincere and tireless developmental initiatives and efforts.
