Mamata to place 4 point demand to PM

Chief
Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to discuss four point demands before
the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during their meeting on Wednesday in
Delhi.
The demand includes a financial bailout package for the state, GTA
implementation issue and development package for Darjeeling, and most
importantly opposing National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC).The CM stated that the state will demand fund for transforming Darjeeling into an international tourism center. The state is not in a financial condition to allot fund as it is paying more than Rs 22000 Crore as an interest for its huge debt .
In this regard Sultan Ahmed pointed out that state is having total debt of Rs 2 lakh 400 Crore and the present fund of the state is being utilized for paying interest.
Chief minister is also going to discuss GTA issue before the Prime
Minister and will query about the reason behind the delay on
implementing GTA in Darjeeling.
She will also discuss repairing of two Swiss gates of Farakka
Barrage.Due to these cracks in the gates, more quantity of water is
flowing to Bangladesh than its alloted quantity, thus creating a water
crisis situation in West Bengal.
Chief Minister opines that if the barrage is not repaired at the
earliest then the Hooghly River may dry up and that will have a direct
impact on power production also.
