Disciplinary action on state govt employees for remaining absent on strike day

On its latest circular state government has issued an order to slash one day salary and service tenure of all those government employees who remained absent on 28th February general strike called by left trade unions. Reducing service tenure by one day will have direct impact on PF and pension of the employees. In this regard Urban development minister Firhad Hakim had clearly mention that chief secretary have already issued a circular before the strike that any government employees who would remain absent on the day of strike would have to face disciplinary action from the government.
Therefore government has taken this decision based on the earlier circular issued by the chief secretary. Further the circular stated that disciplinary action would not be levied on following employees a) employees who were seriously ill or hospitalized, b) employees who were on leave from earlier and c) employees whose family member or close relatives have died on that day. Apart from the above three reasons no excuse will be granted for remaining absent on that day.
