Maoist leader Suchitra Mahato surrendered.

Maoist leader Suchitra Mahato surrendered.
Dreaded Maoist top leader Suchitra Mahato has finally surrendered before Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Writers Building. Suchitra Mahato was the right hand of Maoist Supremo Kishanji and the former wife of the slain maoist leader Sashadhar Mahato. Suchitra told in writers that she recently get married on 25th February with PCPA activist Prabir. She hails from Binpur area of Jhargram in West Midnapore and had been with the red brigade for past one decade. As per the police sources during the last year 24th November joint forces operation where Maoist Supremo Kishanji was killed in an encounter Suchitra Mahato was also present there with Kishanji along with her squad members. In the encounter when Kishanji was badly injured he has asked her to leave the place immediately while still fighting with the joint forces and thus Suchitra fled from there with bullet injury in her waist.

While being injured she went to nearby village and underwent treatment through a local doctor and later fled to another village on a cycle and from there vanished in the jungle. Police later came to know all these after arresting the doctor and the cyclist who took Suchitra on his cycle and helped her to flee the joint forces. Police further mentioned that more than 20 cases of murder, arson and sedition were pending against her. She was one among those who plotted the Silda attack on February 15, 2010 in which 24 Eastern Frontier Rifles soldiers were killed in a Maoist ambush. Therefore her surrender is considered to be the big setback for the maoist operation in Junglemahal and an another great achievement for the Mamata Banerjee government as apart from Suchitra many Maoists squad members have earlier surrendered before government which includes female squad leader Jagari Baske and her husband.
