Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's 116th birthday being celebrated all across the state and for this a special program was organized at Netaji Bhavan in Elgin Road where the guest of honour was Governor MK Narayan and along with him present was presidency mentor group chairman Prof Dr. Sugata Bose, Congress leader and union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh and Krishna Basu.
Prof Sugata Bose delivered a speech on Netaji's life and explained
the significance of our national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' and said that
it was Netaji who first adapted this as national anthem of India and
later it was officially recognized as national anthem by the Government
of India under the Prime Ministership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Later
Governor MK Narayan also addressed the occasion with his speech on
Netaji's life and works and paid homage to Netaji at his residence
Netaji Bhavan.
